Junior & youth team nominations

Nominations for junior teams closed on Friday, Woodbridge has nominated the following junior teams based on the players who have registered:

Junior:

Two Under 7 teams

An Under 10 team

The deadline for nominating youth teams is on Sunday 13th March and the club proposes to nominate the following

Youth:

An Under 13 team

and an Under 16 team

Coaching: Youth Football Licence

Youth Football Certificate I - Youth Football Certificate II & Youth Football Licence

KGV Park (King George V Oval)

Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March - Practical components (Cert I & II)

Sunday 3 April - Youth Football Licence:

FFT is holding a youth coaching course at King George V Oval, Glenorchy in March and early April.

The course will incorporate the Youth Football Certificate I and Youth Football Certificate II, preparing participants for the included Youth Football Licence.

Coaches of Woodbridge youth teams are encouraged to undertake this coach training; and the club will cover the course fees for participants who are actively involved in junior/youth training.

Upcoming Coach Training

The Football Federation of Tasmania (FFT), the governing body of soccer in Tasmania, will be running two free Grassroots Coaching Courses at Olinda Grove, Mt Nelson during March. These provide entry level qualifications for coaches of junior soccer teams in Tasmania (NB there are more advanced coaching certificates available to those who are interested)

Grassroots coaching session: Friday 18 March from 6:30pm At Olinda Grove

Grassroots coaching session: Friday 25 March from 6:30pm At Olinda Grove

Junior Season Launch event

When: 3:30pm - 5:30pm, Wednesday 9th March

Where: Forestry Tasmania offices, 79 Melville St

Forestry Tasmania are running an event in the afternoon of the Season Launch on Wednesday 9th of March 2011. They will conduct a number of different activities to entertain school children in their offices at 79 Melville Street between 3.30- 5.30 pm.

Junior & Youth Registration 2011

Player registration:

Thursday 3rd March & Thursday 10th March

3:30pm – 4:30pm at Woodbridge School Oval

Team nominations:

Competitions Kick Off: 

Saturday 9th April

WSC will nominate junior and youth teams based on the number of players registered for each age-group by Thursday 10th March. Since we will not be permitted to add further teams after this date, interested players are urged to come along and register at training on Thursday 3rd or Thursday10th March so that appropriate teams can be nominated.

Coaches and team managers:

Each team nominated will need a coach and team manager (or parent helper) to organise and supervise their child's team. No previous involvement with soccer is required in order to undertake these roles, as the emphasis in junior football is on participation and enjoyment, not on winning or losing. Free introductory coaching courses are run by the Football Federation of Tasmania prior to the start of the season, with higher level formal coaching qualifications also available to those who are interested.

As you know our club is run by volunteers and these last positions - coaches and team managers - are vitally important to the club's ability to provide this social and sporting outlet for the youngsters in our area. So please consider getting involved, help support the young people in our community.

Changes to Men's Social Summer Cup Roster

FFT have rescheduled several Summer Cup games, as the middle pitch at the Showgrounds will be undergoing some resurfacing over the next few weeks. Woodbridge Men's teams have had the following changes made to their roster:

Sat 26th Feb
Woodbridge v Uni Showgrounds 3 @ 3pm KO time changed again (updated Thurs 24 Feb 2011)

Sat 5th March
Woodbridge v Kingborough Lions Blue Showgrounds 3 @ 10.30am

Sat 12th March
New Town Eagles Red v Woodbridge Showgrounds 3 @ 9.00am

We are unsure at this point if there will be any changes to the Women's roster; watch this spot, we will keep you posted.

Junior/Youth Registration Day 2011

With the new season set to kick off in early April, Woodbridge SC will be holding its Registration Day for Junior and Youth players from 2.30pm on Sunday, 27th February 2011 at the Woodbridge School oval. There will be a Mini World Cup competition to get the ball rolling (so to speak) at around 3 o’clock, and a free sausage sizzle.

Anyone who can’t be there on the day will still have an opportunity to register at training on Thursday, 3rd April from 4 o’clock at the school. Alternatively, they should contact Dalles Hayes on 6295 1878 or 0427 043566.

Fees for 2011 are as follows:

Junior $60

Youth U13–U16 $80

Youth U17–U19 $150

New and returning players all welcome.
